Xenophon Haralambous Castrisos was born in Lourenco Marques (now Maputo), Mozambique on 1 January 1912. He was the son of Maria Castrissios, nee Freeleagus, nephew of Christy Freeleagus, the Greek consul for Brisbane and grandson of Kosma Anthony Freeleagus of Kythera. Castrisos was naturalised on 26 September 1941. He enlisted with the Royal Australian Air Force on 31 December 1941 in Brisbane and served as a leading aircraftman in the 12th squadron. He was discharged on 21 December 1945. Xenophon Castrisos died on 2 November, 2000. The costume is Evzone costume, uniform of the Greek Royal Guard. The uniform consists of: a fez with a black silk tassel, a white shirt with wide sleeves, a white cotton pleated kilt, an embroidered waistcoat, blue and white fringe at the waist, white woollen stockings and black garters and clogs with pompoms.
