I must confess that I draw a complete blank when it comes to the subject of this portrait. I know of John Dillon but I cannot tell you much about him so await, with interest, what you may tell me!
While morning Mary may not have known much about John Dillon before posting this image, having swatted up on the various sources offered by our Flickroonies, she likely does now. For myself (evening Mary), while I thought I knew a lot about Dillon (or at least the summary from his Wikipedia article
about his involvement in the Land League, Home Rule movement, through the anti-conscription campaign of 1918), Domhnallcos
still managed to surprise with a nugget I wasn't aware of. That John Dillon was a distant relation of our friends the Dillons of Clonbrock....
