To end a bizarre week, we have this charming image captured during a visit by the Clonbrocks to the Aran Islands. The stub of an ancient cross, set among the rocky fields, and emphasising its age, there are two young locals – a lad and a lassie. What can we find out about it, and when was it taken?

+++ UPDATE +++
Well, the best thing we found out about this photograph is that we need to horizontally flip it in our catalogue. The second-best thing is that it was taken before “the twenty-one cottages were built in 1914”. (Thank you, Mike, you're always great for the island information.)
