Bridge Street in Skibbereen is straight as a die with plenty of young lads, donkeys, and other onlookers in this shot by Mr. French. A fine Royal plate gives us the benefit of lots of detail, but my fading eyesight cannot see a dog anywhere :-)

Remember the song? I always loved the final chorus:
Oh father dear, the day will come when in answer to the call
Each Irishman with feelings stern will answer one and all,
I'll be the man to lead the van, beneath our flag of green,
And loud and high we'll raise the cry, “Remember Skibbereen!”
