Vestibule of Victory cinema, George Street, Sydney, with "Springtime" showing, 30.8.1946, taken for Mr Attwater by Sam Hood, State Library of New South Wales, archival.sl.nsw.gov.au/Details/archive/110007425

Notes from Lost Sydney - John Gleeson
In 1939, The Empress was demolished and replaced by The Victory Theatre. An Art Deco building, it was designed by Crick and Furse, the firm responsible for designing many of the Art Deco theatres around Sydney.
As The Victory, the cinema screened mostly action movies. This changed when renamed The Rapallo, though neither this nor objections from The National Trust prevented the demolition of the theatre in 1984.
