This pic appeared in Pix on 26th August, 1950...in a feature article on Wollongong... trove.nla.gov.au/work/232852654 - Trove link to the Pix feature article...then scroll down a couple of pages... 'Severely simple are the pleasures of Wollongong's motor-bike brigade. They prop their cycles against the curb, talk and joke, then explode off into the night.' - Pix's caption... A number of the other pics from this SLNSW series also appeared in the Pix feature article...

They would have been very disapproving of this sort of activity. My maternal grandfather, on the other hand, could well have been chucking. He fitted a sidecar to his Indian 500 when courting my grandmother.
