Uachtarain na hEireann Seán T. O'Kelly at the RDS as two foreign military officers shaking hands with his approval. The names of the two officers were household names back in the days before the television though for many this will have been the first time we saw their faces!
This is a new Collection we have managed to gain access to and should prove to be interesting as we move along.

The hat and the roof of the grandstand match this picture from the Illustrated London News of 26th August 1950. Edit: but I'm not sure about the collar.

President O'Kelly attended on Friday 11th August, arriving at 3 p.m. (Irish Independent - Saturday 12 August 1950)

Judging from a picture in the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News - Wednesday 24 August 1949 (which includes the presidental collar, matching this time), The picture was taken at the 1949 event, and the military man on the right is Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands.

"Dublin Horse Show ... ... Amongst the visitors this week is Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, who is the guest of the President and Mrs. O'Kelly at the official residence in the Phoenix Park. Prince Bernhard is a prominent competitor in show jumping competitions in Holland, and before the war won several point-to-point events on a horse called Bonny, which was his special favourite. The horse was killed during the advance of the German Army. An all-round horseman, the Prince won the Dutch three-day event this year in Holland. This is similar to the competition bearing the same name in the Olympic games, and includes a steeplechase, a flat race, show jumping, and a cross-country test, all of which have to be completed on the same horse within three days. ..." Where from are all the photoes please, especially that you have no names for the people in those?Normally there is an explanation under each pic,but not here!?

That looks like the Italian showjumper Raimondo D'Inzeo on the left.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/25825879@N05/ I think it’s his brother Piero D’Inizeo. Looking at pictures of the two of them, Raimondo had a different badge on his cap as a member of the Carabinieri Cavalry, whereas Piero was regular army cavalry.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/bernardhealy Piero D'Inzeo would have been 26 in 1949. While this looks quite like him, I'm not 100% convinced. The man seen here looks older than that to me.

Could be 1955, when Italy won the Agha Khan The team was: Italy – Lt Col A Gutierrez (Pagora), Lt Col L Cartasegne (Brando), Lt R d’Inzeo (Merano), Capt S Oppes (The Quiet Man) www.dublinhorseshow.com/images/uploads/general/Nations_Cu...

https://www.flickr.com/photos/184711311@N04 The man on the right of the NLI photo, with the lapel badge, appears in the Pathé film report for the 1949 event. That's not to say he might not still have been around six years later, of course.

The Irish won that year and Prince Bernhard was present to present the trophy, so you’re likely correct. The Pathe link doesn’t play, unfortunately www.britishpathe.com/asset/152362/

https://www.flickr.com/photos/24101413@N03/ That’s a very fair point. The one thing that I would point to is that he seems to have 2 stars on the shoulder strap of his uniform. That would make him a Lieutenant which matches with Piero’s rank in the late 40s & early 50s. By the late 50s he was making headlines as Captain D’Inzeo. I’m not saying this is definitely Piero, but it does look very like a Lieutenant, even if his features are relatively old.
