A melange of architectural styles in Ramsfort, County Wexford looks as if someone visited the continent a few times and each time fell in love with another approach? The elegant gate pillars and filigreed frame leading to the fountain and pool seem very far away for enjoyment. The big question is - is it still standing and what was the story?
The Dubs won again yesterday but does anybody care?

Sir George Errington (1839–1920) bought the place in 1900 - perhaps he is responsible for the dubious new gate to nowhere. "... About 1900 he purchased a house, Ramsfort, and 500 acres at Gorey, Co. Wexford, where he mainly lived in retirement. He was high sheriff of Co. Tipperary (1888) and Co. Wexford (1901) and a knight of Malta (1901). ... Sadly, its falling into a state of dereliction, and the present owner, like the owners of so many of these type of historic houses, wouldn't hasn’t the means to renovate it.
