The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron is a private sailing club which was formed in 1862. This image depicts a steamship, sailing boats and dinghies at the opening yacht season event the Squadron's headquarters in Kirribilli.

This photo is part of the Australian National Maritime Museum’s Samuel J. Hood Studio collection. Sam Hood (1872-1953) was a Sydney photographer with a passion for ships. His 60-year career spanned the romantic age of sail and two world wars. The photos in the collection were taken mainly in Sydney and Newcastle during the first half of the 20th century.

    we have come accross an autograph book which contains reference to someone called little nina who was possibly a music hall act who sailed on the ship ss Moldavia on the 21.2.1909 This autograph book is full of names of music hall stars including photographs and drawings such names as Harry Lindon and many others. Has anyone got any inform ation. . Thanks Sue
