Dick Smith and his wife Bernice had two girls (Phyllis and Betty Jean) and a boy (John) and was expecting at the time this photograph was taken. Bernice was a daughter of Wilbur and Mary Jane Roberts. They all migrated to Riviera from the Bahamas in 1915 and were known as the “Conchs” of Riviera Beach, Florida, and the houses they lived in and the boat yards they worked in were known as “Conch Town”.
